Planning your arrival

The drive from ‘the other side’ ideally is done as a sight-seeing adventure – with stops along the way to visit the stunning waterfalls, coastline and scenery. Once you arrive at our property, waiting until the next day for ambitious exploring or driving likely fits your mood better. In any case – here are some ‘Arrival in Hana’ tips.

  1. Food. Hana is a rural village, and the best food choices disappear after 7:00-7:30PM.  The Thai Food, Ethiopian food, Hamburger/ribs/chicken, fish taco, ice cream food trucks all wrap up and close early, so at least secure your dinner before that time.
  2. If you are here in time, explore a little to help you plan the next morning. Take the 3 mile drive out to Hamoa beach, and maybe walk on the beach for a few minutes.
  3. Stop by Hasegawa’s General Store or the Ranch Market and get some snacks or drinks, and return home for a restful night listening to the waves and surf.

The next morning, watching the sunrise from the black beach across from our property is an amazing experience – or from your room if you have one of the rooms: 5, 6 or 7.

Plan your excursions. The internet has a wealth of information about the fresh water pools, the waterfalls, the white sand beaches of Hamoa or the black sand beach, Seven Sacred Pools, the National Park trails and hikes to the most stunning waterfalls.

Or just drive along the coastline, finding spots to just stop, and experience old Hawaii and nature.

The Ranch Restaurant or Travaasa Preserve is great for a delicious breakfast, and then off to explore this magical area. Some of the food trucks – like Surfing Burro are also now serving breakfast.

Bring water, snacks, a towel, some sunscreen and be prepared for the most wonderful tropical experiences.

Stop by one of the many fruit stands for whatever is in season – fresh and refreshing.
